The lawyer taking the case must base his/her claims with supporting documentation, and any such documentation must be submitted to the court in Spanish, as provided for in Law 1/2000 of Civil Procedure (LEC) in its article 144.1:
“Article 144. Documents written in an unofficial language.
Any document drawn up in a language other than Spanish or, where appropriate, the official language of the Autonomous Community concerned, shall be accompanied by a translation thereof.”

Although the LEC does not specify the type of translation to be provided in court, it can be inferred that, in order to prevent the opposing party or the judge from questioning the quality of the translation and rejecting it, with the consequent damages to the person who submitted it, it is convenient to provide a sworn translation, duly certified, stamped and signed by the sworn translator duly appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Spain. In this case, only the judge could reject it, duly motivating his/her decision, a case that we have never heard of.
